My Story

Grace Found Me Before I Wanted It.

I'm Mallory — Mal. A Certified Biblical Life Coach, spoken word poet, and the founder of Misfit Masterpieces — a faith-based brand built for women who feel like misfits in the pew and in their own skin. My coaching practice, Dust Off and Rise, walks women through calling, identity, rest, and becoming — not through performance, but through grace.

I didn't grow up in the church. My mom tried her best to get us there, but it was always a choice between trying to look the part while the family was dying inside, or a softball field where at least I could breathe. Either way — I grew up in chaos. The disease of addiction ran through my family like a river, three generations deep. Darkness tried to take my light out for good. What I didn't know was that God was already breaking generational curses I couldn't yet see — working behind the scenes long before I was ready to let Him in.

"I didn't build this for women who have it together. I built it for women who are just trying to breathe."

I have survived a suicide attempt, narcissistic abuse, and the kind of darkness that makes you wonder if the light even exists anymore. For years my mind told me I was protecting myself by staying numb. Turns out I was just slowly dying. But God had other plans. He gave me breath when I didn't want it. He gave me a heart drenched in grace when I thought I was too far gone. And He gave me a voice — messy, raw, unpolished — to tell other women: you're not too broken. You're being made into something more beautiful than before.

Jesus and recovery are my languages. They don't always understand each other. But I refuse to stay quiet in either one — because without both, I would be in the grave. I am a recovery kid for whom church wasn't always the answer, but Jesus met me anyway. He met me in the wilderness. He met me in the mess. He met me when I was barely breathing and told me — not my child. Your voice will carry my authority. You have an identity written on you before you were born.

Now I coach women through the war between their minds and their hearts — teaching them what I am still learning myself. You don't need the tension to end. You just need to keep breathing through it. I felt called to start wildfires of hope. So that is exactly what I'm doing — one woman, one poem, one coaching session, one testimony at a time.

Seven years sober. Still learning. Still breathing. Still building something beautiful out of the broken pieces.

— Mallory Lynch · Misfit Masterpieces "And if you're still breathing? You're doing it right."
